Easy tips to take care of your wool clothing

As the climate continues to dive, woolen clothes and winter gears are being dumped in our wardrobes. Since woolens are much different from cotton, silk and other fabrics that we use in summers, they require special care and handling.
Read on below to know tips to make your woolens last for longer period of time:

Maintenance: The best way to keep woolen clean is to brush them after every wear as they accumulate a lot of dust and are accessible to moths. You can even go for airing woolens and spot cleaning just to ensure if your woolens stay clean. Quick Tip: If you stain your sweater, take them to the dry cleaner as soon as possible.

Washing: prefer washing your woolens clothes by hand unless and until it has a label which says”Dry Clean Only”. While doing hand washing, it is important to use the right quality of detergent!

Drying: avoid hanging your woolen garments in a clothes line to dry. Wool absorbs a lot of water; the weight will cause the fabric to stretch thus making your outfit losing its shape. Therefore, always lay your garment on a flat surface and allow it to dry in room temperature and avoid them under direct heat and sunlight. Quick Tip: never store damp scarf, sock or sweater in the wardrobe. This is an easy spot for germ building up.

Ironing: Avoid ironing your woolen garments when they are dry, always use steam heat when pressing. Make sure to keep your sweater inside-out and iron on the inside and set your press to wool before pressing your garment.

Storing: Storing woolen garments at the right place is as important as cleaning. As mentioned above, wool is accessible to moth attack, so you must hang mothballs in the shelf where you store it. Make sure that they are not cramped up as this will cause wrinkles.

Conclusion- Make sure to follow these tips and your winters will look great!
